Wednesday's Log

Alena started the day off with the reading of her log, which was a continuation of her first day reflections. (If you notice, I'm using Georgia font, the one recommended by the Lord of Rhetoric.)
We moved to the discussion of Yvonne Gillette's article which covered the ways that digital technology could be used to help with differentiated learning. It was especially meaningful to Becky and me since we both have encountered children who can and are being benefited by these methods. It definitely offers another avenue to meeting special needs.

Our next encounter with Google brought us to google-docs, an amazing tool to integrate written and other multimedia with any number of invited guests. The ability to view and edit simultaneously makes this tool much more usable than microsoft word. What a great way to
communicate! We explored google-waves briefly but Becky and I thought that was a bit tooo much -- I hope I'm not putting words in your mouth Becky!

If you don't suffer from vertigo, Prezi is a super visual tool to present to your class. We viewed a unique version of Little Red Riding Hood and we agreed that this could be a very effective way to "tell" a story. Becky took off with this and created an awesome Prezi of The Tortoise and the Hare. Way to go Becky!

Then we broke for lunch -- yea! It was breathtakingly beautiful being outside. Blue skies, clouds, no humidity. Do we really have to go back to class??? But life exists and we found ourselves back in the classroom working on our projects. It was great having not only the time, but the expertise of the "Lord" himself to guide and advise us on our way!!! Truth be told, the future Dr. McArdle got me through several bumps in the road and I thank him from the bottom of my heart. (Sounds like a great plot for a Nicholas Sparks novel doesn't it?)

We ended the day with a great look back into the romantic journey of Matt and Pamela. Thanks for sharing with us. Three days down and two to go!
